Impersonation Alert on Facebook/Whatsapp Group | Beware of Imposters!

Unauthorised Use of Firm's Nomenclature and RIA No. on Fake WhatsApp Group

It has come to our notice that unauthorized individuals have created a fake WhatsApp group using the nomenclature of fake firm name, [Prudent Capital], along with my name as (Suresh Kumar Narula) under my Registered Investment Adviser (RIA) number (INA100001877) invite to join the group and giving bias advice on GLB account.

This is a serious violation of our intellectual property and could potentially lead to misinformation and confusion among our clients, associates, and the general public. We believe this act is a result of phishing, and we are taking immediate steps to address the situation.

Though cybersecurity incidents and fake groups (impersonation) are the order of the day, rest assured, we have taken this impersonation incident seriously and taken mitigating steps with the help of our legal and cybersecurity experts along with the law enforcement.

We have taken the following proactive and post-incident measures in order to make the relevant stakeholders aware and support them in the preventive and investigative process:

We have filed a complaint with the Police Cybercrime, Panchkula, Haryana.

We have intimated the CERT-In, a National authority that looks into cyber incidents.

We have informed the regulator, SEBI and its subsidiary BASL, who regulates our investment advisory practice.

We are posting such impersonation alerts on our website and our active social media handles/profiles (Refer our ‘official communication channels’).

We are reporting this specific impersonation incident to the Whatsapp Group.
